Privacy policy
Last updated: April 9, 2026
As of the date at the top of this page, NythyCleaner is not distributed on the Mac App Store. The current build is offered by direct download from this website; the Pro subscription is handled by the payment provider shown at checkout (e.g. Stripe). A Mac App Store version may be offered later; these documents will continue to distinguish channels where applicable.
This privacy policy describes how data is processed in connection with the website and the NythyCleaner software.
We follow a simple principle: collect as little as possible. The app is designed to run locally on your Mac.
1. Data controller
The controller for processing related to the website, the software (except data solely handled by Apple or a payment provider in their scope), and support is NythyCleaner, operating as Sole proprietorship under the French micro-enterprise regime (France), reachable at contact@nythycleaner.cloud.
VAT: VAT not applicable, Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.
If and when a Mac App Store build is offered, the seller identity shown in the App Store would be NythyCleaner, and transaction and Apple account data would be processed by Appleunder Apple's policies. The notice at the top of this page states whether that channel is live.
For purchases via direct download from this website (checkout link), the payment provider shown at checkout (e.g. Stripe) processes data required for payment, invoicing, and legal obligations; it may act as independent controller or processor as described in its own legal notices.
2. Distribution channels and where data is processed
Today, NythyCleaner is distributed by direct download; subscription payments go through the payment provider at checkout. A Mac App Store distribution may be added later. In all cases, most app processing stays on-device; the payment channel and order-related datadiffer (Apple vs payment provider) as described in section 4.
3. Data processed in the app
NythyCleaner operates primarily on-device. Analyzed files, cleanup actions, and your usage preferences remain on your machine. We do not run advertising telemetry or profile your app activity on our servers.
Some technical data (local preferences, cached subscription state, local history for certain actions) may be stored locally using standard Apple mechanisms.
You control this information through macOS (deleting the app, resetting local preferences, and so on).
3.1 Privileged helper
Certain cleanup or maintenance operations require administrator privileges (e.g. deep system cleanup, disk volume management). To perform them, NythyCleaner installs a privileged helper (signed macOS daemon) via the system ServiceManagement framework. This helper collects no personal data; it only executes commands you have explicitly triggered in the app interface.
3.2 Apple Events and automation
The app may send Apple Events (via osascript) for automation tasks such as gracefully closing browsers before cleaning their data. These events are triggered only with your explicit consent in the interface.
3.3 Wi‑Fi network name (SSID) access
The System Information section of the app may display the name (SSID) of the Wi‑Fi network you are connected to. This access requires the macOS location permission (CoreLocation) and is used solely for local display; the SSID is never transmitted to our servers.
3.4 Automatic updates (Sparkle)
NythyCleaner uses the Sparkle framework to check for and install updates automatically. During this check, the app contacts our update server and may transmit minimal technical information (app version, macOS version, language). No personal data is collected through this mechanism.
4. Subscriptions and payments
4.1 Mac App Store (if applicable)
If you obtain NythyCleaner through the Mac App Store, in-app purchases, trials, renewals, cancellations, and subscription restoration are handled by Apple (StoreKit / App Store). We do not have access to your bank card details.
Apple acts as controller for payment and Apple account data in that context. See Apple's privacy policy for details.
4.2 Website and payment provider (e.g. Stripe)
If you subscribe or pay via our site or a checkout link, the payment provider collects and processes data needed for the contract (identity, email, payment information, billing address where applicable). We may receive limited information (licence status, transaction identifier, email) to enable access to the software and support.
The provider's privacy policy and terms at checkout describe processing, legal basis, and your rights on their side.
5. Data collected via the website
The site does not include marketing analytics or ad trackers on our initiative. Like any web service, hosting may generate technical logs (IP address, timestamp, requested resource) for security, maintenance, and abuse prevention.
These technical data are not used for commercial profiling.
6. Support contact
When you email us at contact@nythycleaner.cloud, we process the data you send (email address, message content, attachments if any) to respond to your request.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (support), and where applicable pre-contractual measures or performance of a contract.
7. Cookies and trackers
We currently do not deploy advertising cookies or marketing tracking tools on the site. If that changes, this policy will be updated and any required consent mechanisms will be added.
8. Retention
Support contact data are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted or archived according to legal obligations. Server logs are kept for a limited period strictly necessary for security and operations.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data processed through the site and support. No system is perfectly secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
10. Your rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR and applicable law, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection, depending on the case.
To exercise rights against us: contact@nythycleaner.cloud. For data processed by Apple or a payment provider, you may also contact them directly via their procedures.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL: www.cnil.fr).
11. Transfers and third parties
If a Mac App Store channel exists, those purchases are processed by Apple. Direct purchases from this website involve a payment provider and, where applicable, the website host (technical logs). We do not sell your data or transfer personal data for advertising resale.
Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area if a processor or partner is located abroad; where that happens, safeguards under the GDPR (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, etc.) apply as committed by the relevant provider.
12. Policy updates
This policy may change to reflect legal, technical, or functional updates. The last update date is shown at the top of the page.
9. Billing data and secure links
The billing email may be used to send secure linking links, verify subscription eligibility, and enforce anti-abuse limits (limited technical logging).
3.1 Server communication (licence and trial)
The app contacts api.nythycleaner.cloud (the publisher’s backend) to verify licence status, bootstrap an app session, and sync the local trial. It transmits a machine identifier (IOPlatformUUID), the app version, and the platform. Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interest (anti‑fraud, security). Not used for advertising; retained only as necessary.
3.2 Automatic update checks (Sparkle)
The app uses Sparkle to automatically check updates against nythycleaner.cloud/downloads/appcast.xml. This may send minimal technical information (e.g. app and macOS version). Detailed system profiling is disabled.
